New release: improved embeddable live player

We’ve rolled out some improvements to our embeddable live audio player today.

The Mixlr embeddable player has been a hit since we launched it back in April: the player makes it easy for live broadcasters like DJs, clubs and podcasters to embed live audio in their own websites, blogs and Facebook newsfeed.

Here’s how the awesome Chicane are using our live player in their current Mixmag tour of the UK. We think it looks great.

Today, we’ve rolled out a set of improvements to the player.

Better for mobile listening

Firstly, the player was already compatible with Android mobile devices, but we’ve now made it play nicely with iPhone and iPad devices too. When a listener visits your site using an Apple mobile device, clicking on the player will redirect them to our mobile-enhanced website where they can listen, make comments and share the live broadcast easily.

If you’re already including a Mixlr embeddable player in your website or blog, you’ll have to update the embed code to make this work. Just visit your widgets dashboard and grab the new embed code for your site.

Fixes and improvements

Secondly, we’ve improved the way the player handles dropped connections. In the unfortunate event that the live broadcast your listening to experiences bandwidth or connection problems, the embeddable player now does a better job of displaying notifications so you know what’s going on.

Finally, we’ve re-worked the graphics so that it’s easier to resize the player to different sizes: it should make it even easier to get live audio into your website or blog.

As usual, we love feedback at Mixlr. If you’ve got comments, questions or suggestions, hit us on Twitter or Facebook. And we hope you enjoy embedding your live broadcasts all over the world wide web.
