Today we’ve rolled out a major feature release on Mixlr: we’ve made it easy for broadcasters to schedule and promote future live broadcasts, and for listeners to receive alerts when broadcasts begin. Let’s take a look at how it all works.
From our new broadcast page it’s easy to begin scheduling: just click on Schedule a new Broadcast.
You can then fill in some basic details about your upcoming broadcast, such as the title, a brief description and of course set the time. It’s easy to schedule a broadcast in any international timezone: if you want, you can also set the default timezone for your profile.
Another way you can adjust your timezone is via your edit profile page - this will automatically set all broadcasts to this timezone.
Once you’ve filled in the details of your forthcoming broadcast, just hit Schedule and you’ll be redirected to your newly-scheduled broadcast :)
The same share URLs will work before, during and after the show is actually broadcasting, so it couldn’t be easier to promote on Facebook, Twitter, or anywhere else on the web.
Excuses
We know how it is. You scheduled a live show, but something unexpected happens and you miss it completely. How to deal with with your legions of disappointed listeners? This is where our new excuses system comes in. Let your listeners down and we will make you leave an excuse before you schedule your next broadcast.
We’ve come up with a few canned excuses to get you started, but we’re open to suggestions for further additions to the list :)
Live Broadcast Alerts
What about getting listeners? We’ve also introduced live broadcast alerts, which make it easy to receive an email when a broadcast you’re interested in actually starts. You just hit the Remind me button to set up an alert.
If you’re not signed in, or you don’t have a Mixlr account, it’s still possible to set an alert: you’ll just be asked to enter your email address when you set it up.
Conclusion
We’re proud of our new scheduling system, and we hope this post has given a good explanation of it. As usual, we’re open to feedback and suggestions: leave a comment below, or on our dedicated feedback page.
Happy scheduling!
